Q: How can I use social media to find a home?
A: What about YouTube? While most people would think of sites like Facebook and Twitter when it comes to social media, YouTube is actually another social media site with many active users. It’s more than a video site for watching viral hits like “Gangnam Style.” You can use it to find videos of homes in your area.
YouTube is actually the second most-used search engine behind Google.
With more real estate brokerages and their realtors putting up videos of their listings on YouTube, you, as a homebuyer, can type in various search phrases to find the home you desire. These phrases can include streets, neighborhoods and towns or cities.
It’s just like how you would make a search on Google, Bing or Yahoo.
Instead of landing upon your typical Trulia or Zillow listing with such a search, you would come across slideshows or even full video tours of homes within your search criteria.
If you don’t have the time to drop by an open house, you can preview many listings through these YouTube videos. There’s no need to leave your computer.
On top of that, if you have a smartphone, you can even view these virtual tour videos on the go.
